There came a litany of damaged and lost items over the past year. Everything is collapsing, collapsing.

The weedlets are bedecked and strewn with a Maytime scattering of animal fur this morning, mayhem and carnage seem to have occurred. All this is in keeping with The End.

I mourn the loss of the thick tomes through these thin times, but in a way it does seem strangely appropriate.

Are we to take it you have returned from the Eternal Springtime to the land where murder is openly celebrated on the streets, a red white and blue pie in the sober unsmiling face of History.

Hey, Assassination Par-Tay.TChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05915822857461178942noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4445844569294316288.post-14307773788960471132011-05-02T07:35:17.631-07:002011-05-02T07:35:17.631-07:00(excuse that hiccup above, a pinkie hit "ente...(excuse that hiccup above, a pinkie hit "enter"...)

Tom, you can read about the book I sent here http://litteraria.ff.cuni.cz/books/kral_majales.html It's very thick.

That's disturbing about your mail delivery. That kind of thing really bothers me (and I suppose you must feel something similar) to have that form of contact, which should be reliable, instead be subject to fits and starts beyond our control. But it brings up an earlier subject, about this dialog here -- I certainly feel it can be called one, and one I value. This is the one and only personal blog thing I read.VINCENT FARNSWORTHhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09840705566779483677noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4445844569294316288.post-46645525104642604902011-05-02T07:27:23.472-07:002011-05-02T07:27:23.472-07:00This comment has been removed by the author.VINCENT FARNSWORTHhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09840705566779483677noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4445844569294316288.post-56374580524392858152011-05-01T22:43:27.562-07:002011-05-01T22:43:27.562-07:00(PS. Perhaps half the very small amount of US mail we ever do receive comes in days or weeks late, with any package larger than a postcard often soiled, torn, ripped, or simply opened and taped back together; and this is not to mention the mail of which rumour reaches us long afterward, and which we have never received at all. The postman shows up only every other day or so, usually after dark, and fears attempting the collapsed front steps, so leaves the bills and other tattered shards on the weedy pathway out front. So if you have sent us something from Prague, and we have not received it, this would merely increase my sense of the futility of supposing or expecting we are included in anything so efficient as would be implied by words like "mail service", "infrastructure," etc.

As a fair percentage of the lost mail eventually turns up with various near or semi-remote neighbours, and then seems to be relayed on to us (or not) depending upon whether the contents look to have any value, I shall now attempt to summon the courage to ring one or two doorbells and enquire.

That of course could set off multiple security alarums and defensive gongs & c., but perhaps if I wear a Kate Middleton mask...

(By the by, I don't know whether the Pragueriana included any poems of yours, but I do know that the one you posted here three nights ago was terrific, I do hope I managed to fumblingly convey that to you, gratefully, as I should have done.)TChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05915822857461178942noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4445844569294316288.post-1921197802244401522011-05-01T16:07:48.823-07:002011-05-01T16:07:48.823-07:00I second Lucy's motion.

I rescued this essay from oblivion because the writer is smart and sensitive, and because the piece had been lost in cyber-limbo for a number of years, with not much hope of ever again seeing the light.

(It had succumbed to a fatal dose of Dead Link-itis.)TChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05915822857461178942noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4445844569294316288.post-25838479913864050642011-05-01T08:36:53.591-07:002011-05-01T08:36:53.591-07:00Not only his wondrous poetry but also his talented...Not only his wondrous poetry but also his talented brush.
