The animal was poisoned by humans, and went from perfectly healthy to a pathetic state suddenly and more or less dramatically (I don't suppose animals understand drama, thank gods). The vets who were unavailable from Saturday to Wednesday were enjoying what humans regard as a holiday. So we got to see the whole nasty process unfold in "real time" stages.

By the time it was over, the remaining members of the feral family - mother disappeared and presumed dead, this was the #1 son, his blind father and persistent little sisters are still hanging about - seemed more than a bit confused by the events.

Understandably, I guess - though to ever suppose that anything in this department (non human) is truly "understandable", is probably going out on a limb. We observe. We don't understand, really. That is, we do understand our own feelings, to an extent, but as to what the animals are feeling, pure projection, speculation, deduction, based on observation.

The seven cats whose remains still moulder in the overgrown backyard cemetery and the many more who have preceded them over the past 51 years, in many places, all came to us because lost, abandoned, sick, unwanted, all made great friends for us, all were grieved when gone, and we feel privileged to have been able to provide for them, and deeply disappointed every time, not to have been able to do more.

But in this case we couldn't do one damn thing.TChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05915822857461178942noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4445844569294316288.post-85184337270267078242018-05-30T11:16:31.973-07:002018-05-30T11:16:31.973-07:00i am sorry to read of the cat's suffering
