Painful to witn...Thanks very much, Tom and Duncan.

Painful to witness yes, perhaps even worse to make.

They say the rural white trash and the big city elites are not cut from the same cloth, but for me, the "production personnel" of DC and Huntsville simply break down to company-town service workers of different status levels employed in the same national industry, the production of death and harm for profit.

Bodies now being thrown into the river in Mosul, to float anonymously downstream and join the toll, the ever-growing log.

But what was anyway thought to be coming as the long term result of "our" governments' successive strangling of every dissident political element in Western Asia since forever? Chase out, kill, torture, bomb, otherwise eradicate all resistance to "our friends" the entrenched top dog sheikhs and monarchs who hold the black gold we all crave and require for the sustenance of this mad freeway rat race to destroy the planet, a "way of life" that makes all the shining good sense of a tyre fire.

(That trillion ton ice chunk that broke off Antarctica last week certainly got a lot less attention than the ever so fascinating larval wigglings of the drumpfklan.)

The delusion that exterminating every last miserable daeshi, while continuing on with the policies and practises which after the 2003 invasion produced IS in the first place, remains as insane as every other "core tenet" upon which "our" "civilisation" is now however shakily founded.

The fellow who does the site Raqqa Is Being Slaughtered Silently asks the simple question, once Daesh, with its dark ideation, has been finally dispatched for good and all, what glorious shining idea will fill the resulting conceptual void? The idea of doing a deal? Of being able to jump in the SUV and pick up something at safeway or jump on a plane to Paris for a bit of complicit escapist fun?

The suggestion that the guillotine be put back into use on occasions like the drumpfvisit with the macronons seems sound enough, though 'twould be a pity to see a good blade dirtied up like that.

So now we've had the great MAGA Revolution. One fears for the what the next great "popular" Revolution might look like. But meanwhile as we wait and wonder (not), where O where is the ghost of Charlotte Corday?

One imagines her for a moment incarnate in the camouflage jumpsuit of a YPG female fighter, somehow sneaking by night into the shower facility at CENTCOM and... or maybe vaulting over the fence onto the pristine lawns of the Casa Blanca and...

The old can only dream, and vaguely remember things that probably never even happened.TChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05915822857461178942noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4445844569294316288.post-15489302513320061602017-07-15T01:27:34.582-07:002017-07-15T01:27:34.582-07:00"Perpetual war for perpetual peace' - fir..."Perpetual war for perpetual peace' - first words that came to mind when I saw the pictureS of the kids on the trolleys. So brutal. The children. The people. The destruction. It's too much. The Abu Mohammed cut line got it right: 'People remain but life does not.' One feels furious and helpless at once. Like that black horse running from the fire one doesn't think much about what's left in the dust. Well, so, your poem J.H. Almeida: To myself' brought to mind a 2014 Jackson Browne tune, 'Yeah Yeah' for some reason. 'America ya ya' I guess. I'm always humbled by how hard you work, Tom. For me, these posts are not to be missed.
