Aubade

.

File:Dawn Xepon Laos.jpg

Air, made to shine, gives up its lustre

to your sleeping features, and is theirs

to play around with as they will

and light embodied is a flash

on your muscular shoulders,

which smell like cloves

  1. Tom,

Thanks for this, I lay awake for hours in the night, waiting to hear that first bird chirp, and then there it was -- the moon having risen then already higher, now getting light -- what happens when you're getting on a plane this morning, heading to Denver. Here in any case something to add to your morning "Aubade" ---

    4.9

orange curve of moon in still black sky
above ridge, first bird chirp on branch
in foreground, wave sounding in channel

    question of whether and how,
    the letting appear of

    the picture, think happened
    enough to be, that is

cloudless blue sky reflected in channel,
whiteness of gull flapping toward ridge

  2. And so the dreamer leaves the land of Morpheus behind into the world of the real...

  3. Tom,

Morning light comes into small window in a basement room of a brick house on Humboldt Street in Denver. . . .

    4.10

line of cloud in blue whiteness of sky
above wall, motion of leaves on branch
in foreground, sound of cars in street

    in the second place, motion
    of two bodies defined

    so that the line, direction
    of light, consequence

line of jet trail above shadowed ridge,
white curve of moon to the right of it

  4. Lucy,

Yes, and it appears that this dreamer once found both the land of Morpheus and the world of the real a bit more... what's the word? Welcoming?

    Stephen,

Thank you for once again being the light-bringer.

Dark sky here this morning, steely clouds gathering, wind rising, cold storm (again) incoming...
