Fuck Pluto. Somebody's got to own
Something
Sometime. The rest
Is jest
The rest,
As the troublous wo/man
In the street was saying
To no one
After her bus went by without
Stopping, in the world
Night.

Those university extremists ought to bring their structural challenges outside the university, so that we all may enjoy their dialectical activities in common.
I want them to tell us why people in Maine use such extraordinarily rude language on a more or less consistent basis. What is said in Maine cannot be said in Cambridge. Now why is that?
As for that blogger who "decoded what was being said", s/he must have access to some curious decoding tool -- the recently manufactured sort, with the hormones still a bit wet.
I don't think Pluto was ever saying anything, nor intending to say anything, nor possessing the ability to say anything. In that respect, Disney had it right.
There was never nor ever will be temporality on Pluto. Temporality is a human construction. Humans are more likely to be flocking to the Bates Motel than daring the flight to Pluto, any time soon.
I see Pluto as a sort of innocent bystander in this ridiculous jingoistic circus of supertech gadgetry, designed, as last year's ESA comet-probe program, to blare far and wide the brute victory-song of the mechanical.
I think these dwarf technological triumphs should be seen, as it were, from the other side -- that is, as entertaining cover stories meant to distract attention from the palpable present failure of capitalism, for all its clanking gizmos and polysemous heraldry, to address the imminent demise of life on this planet.
That's it. I'm no longer telling people I grew up in Massachusetts. I'm from the fuck-belt.
ReplyDeleteI heard an interview this week where a scientist noted that, in his opinion, anything smaller than Neptune should be counted as a dwarf planet. I kind of like that idea. It takes the pressure off Earth -- sure, we could do better, but what do you expect? We're not even a planet.
Well, that's one way of looking at it -- I mean, us. Busy little overachievers with potty mouths, there it is... but nobody was expecting anything much better out of us, now, were they?
ReplyDeleteAye, this new geographical understanding certainly does give pause.
I see that you do indeed come from rather a nest of hard-cursing troopers... but with little Crap to fear, and Douches few and far between.
(That very long stone's throw from the nearest Cunt would presumably be a safe distance, depending.)
My own linguistic derivations would point, hopefully not too ostentatiously, toward a ripe growth in Shit, Bitch, Asshole and Faggot.
Whereas here we both find ourselves, at this late and possibly dire pass, dead in the lap of Fuck and Fuckboy.
Fuck Pluto
ReplyDeleteTom,
ReplyDeletemore than construction, time is a human instruction..
And Pluto, perhaps, a threatening deconstruction..so better get it to follow the clock..which shouldn't be difficult, as Pluto's never saying nor intending to say anything anyway.
The Bates' motel too had the camera eye/i invest-igate it. And the camera did manage to solve the mystery. But then, again, the mystery was its own construction.
Perhaps if we decide for Pluto to be a non-planet, we could save ourselves the 'save the planet' masquerade cost and tense-lessly fuck Pluto..
Or make it a planet and then go 'save' it..Ploughto..
The innocence of Pluto is sentimental..and even factual, perhaps..but it's not legal yet..so it's still eligible for the terrorist threat list..depends on what it has..
Maybe it'll have an odd leap year and we could frame it for using steroids on track..
Or for downloading ('brute victory-song of the mechanical.mp3' (((((copyright))))))
"..outside the university.."
University is an attribute they must try to defend for their identity and its social benefits..it's a(t) tribulation. They do this (be 'universal') by denying the existence of the other..nothing's coming out of it..and nothing's outside of it. But then there are multiverses as per the scientists..
So..maybe someday..

Nobody's ever going to sell Pluto on the idea of Time... or for that matter on the idea of anything.
What these clanking white world Tin Man spacegasms finally come down to is a form not of temporality but of temporizing...
An inflationary way of filling time by wasting it or wasting it by filling it with distractions that remain always virtual == dead (controllable) -- thus as remote as possible from any conceivable lived experience -- so that "the time just flies by" when "you're having fun"...
tem·po-rize· -- time, playing for time, using diversionary tactics -- from medieval Latin temporizare ‘to delay,’ -- cheapjack phantasmagoria of tech-toy worlds as necessary mesmerizing distraction
"This kind of mistake recurs again and again in philosophy; e.g. when we are puzzled about the nature of time, when time seems to us a queer thing. We are most strongly tempted to think that here are things hidden, something we can see from the outside but which we can't look into. And yet nothing of the sort is the case. It is not new facts about time which we want to know. All the facts that concern us lie open before us. But it is the use of the substantive "time" which mystifies us. If we look into the grammar of that word, we shall feel that it is no less astounding that man should have conceived of a deity of time than it would be to conceive of a deity of negation or disjunction."
He was walking past the material time of the hammer and sickle then he turned the corner and thought he saw Kali the Time Goddess awaiting him...
