Kenosha: CEO of Snap-On, during tour -- 'Many Americans' have their 'ashes' put in our tin boxes @realDonaldTrump - 'Its depressing.': tweet via Glenn Thrush @GlennThrush, 18 April 2017

alfred e. newman said...

At a time when many Americans are turning inward, having their 'ashes' put in tin snap-on boxes for hiding away in the dark, @realDonaldTrump’s life as a poet, as a scholar, as an educator, has been one turned outward on the world, characterized by generosity and an overriding passion for the scribbled word, by an unrelenting wonder and a simple desire to understand the complicated celestial mechanics of executive order poetry. "Nails On a Chalkboard In My SUV And Other Poems" continues Trump's brave poetic project, gathering paradise, one grain of sand, one universe, one dead wildflower, at a time.

II.xi. ...What is internal is hidden from us."---The future is hidden from us. But does the astronomer think like this when he calculates an eclipse of the sun?

If I see someone writhing in pain with evident cause I do not think: all the same, his feelings are hidden from me.

We also say of some people that they are transparent to us. It is, however, important as regards this observation that one human being can be a complete enigma to another. We learn this when we come into a strange country with entirely strange traditions; and, what is more, even given a mastery of the country's language, we do not understand the people. (And not because of not knowing what they are saying to themselves.) We cannot find our feet with them.

"I cannot know what goes on in him" is above all a picture. It is the convincing expression of a conviction. They are not readily accessible.

If a lion could talk, we could not understand him.

Ludwig Wittgenstein (1889-1951): from Philosophical Investigations, c. 1945-1949

  1. I mean, Cicero, though. 18th and Laramie, by the brilliant chicago photographer curtis locke. Al Capone and Henry Rago and his family of undertakers would all bow their heads in shame, to see it now.

When do you suppose Pres. Gearhead is going to Make Cicero Great Again? Doing handstands on a toolbox on an aircraft carrier going either north or south through the Straits of Sunda, depending how Sean Spicer's geolocation instincts are trending?

Albany Bowl is just down the freeway feeder a ways. Fellow I know was in a league there, Monday nights cut price, said the bouncer always followed him into the bathroom.

Religious proselytising everywhere now, end times, though maybe in Kenosha not so much, yet.
