The former Midway drive-in | by rickele

The former Midway drive-In | Just off 101 about halfway between Eureka and Arcata stands the screen and the decaying sign for the Midway Drive-in theater which operated from 1951 to 1986. The building that housed the snack bar and projection room is still there, too, but it was stripped to accomodate the office needs of J's RV Center. {Eureka, California]: photo by Rick Ele, 17 July 2018

Maria Marroquin Perdomo described under oath in her credible-fear interview how two policemen pistol-whipped her, invaded her home and tried to extort money. They traveled 15 days by van, bus and truck before crossing the Rio Grande River in an overloaded raft that resembled a ‘kiddie pool,’ she said. They were quickly apprehended on the other side of the border: Photo @Lelliottphoto: image via Reuters Pictures @reuterspictures, 25 July 2018

Marroquin Perdomo says she was told her son would be waiting for her when she returned from court. He was not. After more than a month, she was reunited with Abisai, who was sent to a facility designed to house up to 1,500 boys in a former Wal-Mart Supercenter. As they held a long embrace, she begged for his forgiveness: Photo @Lelliottphoto: image via Reuters Pictures @reuterspictures, 25 July 2018
