Yes, the woman's definitely a genius, I bow down before her several abilities, especially her contact with the ineffable -- indeed it was that latter quality in her work which moved Rumi to beg her to address this poem, for he knew full well that no one else could handle the matter so delicately, if for no other reason than the fact that no one else would live upon the sea, and do such a thing.
And I wasn't kidding, billoo. Nora really lives on a boat.
Then she must be a free spirit! Why does that make me think of P. Fitzgerald's 'Offshore'?
I sometimes wonder if my ancestors from Kashmir were also boat people..certainly can't get over the feeling that lots of us are stranded-just a bit-here on earth.
A person who did not live upon the sea could never have made this great poetry comic, I don't think.
