One more Saturday night
a neon sky
foaming with great hops
clear pale gold
fizzing
inside a huge vacuous
gas bubble

  1. And what's more, they tell me I was born under that sign. (The one on top, that is.)

  2. Tom,

From the glory days of the sign in Jack Delano's photo to almost forgotten in Melissa Bevins Ghost Sign, Whatever Happened to Baby Pabst?

    8.12

grey whiteness of fog against invisible
ridge, jay calling from shadowed branch
in foreground, sound of wave in channel

    motion between bodies, this
    system of coordinates

    therefore extension of type,
    first B, the second A

grey white of fog reflected in channel,
    pelican flapping across toward horizon

  3. This wasn't such a bad sign, was it?
With so many blue-ribbon poems out there refreshing us, I'd say it was rather auspicious.

  5. That's how the rich relax
    isn't it? The golden brew
    fizzy tickling the nose
    after a day of backbreaking
    labor the body
    thirsty the mind
    numb with pain
    questions blackouts
    drymouth liquid
