Iraqi forces retook a town from the Islamic State jihadist group in Anbar province Thursday and evacuated 10,000 civilians as they advanced up the Euphrates valley, a security spokesman said. ...bearded with moss, old fallen tree absorbs southwest gale lashings
the sideways rain has washed away the cabbages
the cataracts blow their trumpets from the steep
crawled out on a little promontory, stood isolated
and then came the gnarled oak limb that broke off in a gust
...........................................windy city!
and plunged straight down
as lost in dreamland the geezer hobbled under, to crash
upon bumbershoot peak, waking bumbling viejo loco beneath
from wandering
woolgatherings... old time y los ancestros de
...chicago
where the bloated orange conquistador
knocked off his horse today
fell straight down
asking, like Roland's ghost
winding a silent horn

...
Que es un pocho?

  1. Let's hear it for Chicago!!

  2. Thanks, Vincent, I've been thinking the same thing. Sooner or later this fascist horror show was going to roll into a major city with an unsubdued mixed-race population fed up enough to get in Drumpf's grill in serious numbers. Could this be a sort of turning point? Yet what would there be to turn to... I've just now watched the Orange Man address a Cleveland rally, and the unseen but audible agitation from the margins of the crowd was plainly of more concern to those around the stage than the incredibly vacuous huffings and puffings of the guy at the middle of it all -- who's now blaming the irritation on the insidious influence of Bernie the Commie. If only!!

Funny thing, I worked, as a youth, for a Chicago ushering syndicate, and in this employ, helped provide "crowd control" at all manner of public events, including major political conventions. There were no bulletproof plastic podium shields or secret service contingents then. I bodyguarded at conventions for "little Harry" Truman, the Kansas City haberdasher, and, of all people, Madame Chiang Kai-Shek, who, in her very stylish cheongsam, exuded the kind of high-end cosmopolitan vibe our would-be "Madame President" would die for. In all of that, there was never any serious aggravation to speak of. Nothing, I mean, in the league of these bloody beatings being dealt out to protestors at Drumpf shows... when the protestors are in the minority. Not that the job didn't include dealing with violence, knock-down drag-out fights at boxing matches, bricks hurled through the air at southside friday night community dances, all that good stuff.

Just that, back then, somehow, this America Drumpf is trumpeting about, brutal as it may have been and in some sectors very definitely was, had not yet become the surreal insanity contagion site it now is.
