carnival

In the valley of silent screaming souls the meat wheel is spinning
the sound of knives high in the air slashing through clouds is not a real sound
the officer from the body collection squad has been at this difficult night work for years
from the first few nights already knew he would never get used to sleepwalking
the meat wheel always spinning spinning difficult to control
the bodies coming out of their graves to bend your thinking into shapes you don't understand
in a language without words you never get used to it
no sound yet somehow you know what they are saying
the meat wheel keeps on spinning you just do your job you never get used to it

I'm angry at Facebook – but I'm also addicted. How do I break free?

Like you, I have no idea how to wean myself off the platform, but acknowledgement is the first step to recovery

I am too far in to leave Facebook, but I want to register my disapproval of the company after their part in the data leak to Cambridge Analytica. What should I do?

  6. The meat wheel spinning in endless abbatoirs, in Gaza's borders, in Eastern Ghouta, in Myanmar, ad infinitum. The gears of the great fuckwit charm that goes for History these days.

If Mark Zuckerberg didn't exist would Emma Brockes have to invent him?

(I'm sure I met Ms. Brockes in a former life in Londinium).

  7. The poor dear sounds a nervous wreck.

Though the strikes may now calm many anxieties.

Shuffling defensively down nearby commercial block in first hour of war encountered a fellow doing sketches for new building project who said he had no idea what was happening anywhere on earth but that - and this knowingly - it's all down to market forces now.
