If I am sick, Santa Claus picks me up in a helicopter.

Wing is my Christmas angel. Shining brighter than the blue electric reindeer next door.

And speaking of brightness...just before midnight a brightly-lit swept-wing craft of vast dimension and triangular shape moved rapidly across the sky from north to south... I say rapidly, but then it appeared to be hovering...

Quite a round-up and quite a Christmas song. I can see why Santa needs and would enjoy a Murad cigarette this Christmas after reading about Xavier Hawkins, the Santa who was shot in the back (with a pellet gun only, thank heaven) in Washington, DC, yesterday. Merry Christmas -- it's freezing here (that's acceptable) and the snow is gone (proof that there is indeed a Santa Claus). This year was a long slog. I just watched a BBC history of progressive rock on Youtube and I think I'll make progress (my definition of it) my touchstone and talisman for the coming year until we pull up stakes and follow that helicopter. We’re relentless, even when we pretend to enjoy ourselves. Everything depends on not letting up. Personnel must keep ball in air at all times. That inauthenticity you mentioned earlier has become our purest expression. Get real? Let’s see.

Today is bright, dry, and cold. Feels right, like real winter.

The song by Wing proves something. I’m afraid to know what it is.

Well, at least that Murad Santa is in step with the progressive thinking on health matters; he goes outside to smoke.

Christmas is insane in the best of times and as these are hardly those, I don't know what we could have expected.

There was however one mild bit of excitement, the fairly predictable eruption of shrieking and screaming emanating from the adrenalized brats next door, whose whoops of Gimme! and I hate you! and No that one's Mine! filled the night... until, finally, they didn't.

At which point the freeway feeder fell preternaturally quiet, as it always does on this holiest night of the year.

Had to let 48 hours pass so that the cosmos might decompress a bit... Santa always seems to make the entire planet hyperventilate... wouldn't want it tipping off the old axis, mind.

So now that all that remains of Christmas are the bruises and the junk, time to stand up for the honour of Wing.

Yet again. And always.

Her helicoptaaa rapstah hit is perhaps not fully representative of her complex genius.

It is only when she hymns her homeland in the pampas that this interplanetary diva hits her turbo-charged lounge- lizard-in-a-red-dress stride.

(Mere mortals might wish to check something at the door... their mortality, say.)

Don't cry for me, Argentina.

Meanwhile... the year if not everything else is ending with a sad Wingless whimper, out there in the night.

What is there left to say?

Good Lord, stop me before I play Wing again!!
