Wolf Moon

Canis lupus, seen before hunt, Quebec: photo by Peupleloup, 2004

As the incoming storm gathers its scattered eerie-cloud-formation
forces over the bay, above the blinking christmas light displays
of chateaux in the hills advance detachments
of cloud scud swiftly across the mist-faded face
of the waning wolf moon, a bar of soap grey with use, breaking
off small pieces

Tom,

I saw that moon ("bar of soap grey with use") last night when I got home from my mother's, drove by the little library on corner of MLK and Hopkins, thinking of you. And now the storm is kicking in, rain starting to fall (and will the leak which Johnny discovered two days ago start again (nearly 1,000 pages of Temporality moved from table below it?). . . .

Steve, yes, that moon disappeared completely and then it rained night and day here, big male Siamese who loves the outdoors and detests confinement sneezing like crazy now -- too much weather! Currently trying to convince him that to refrain, stop indoors and "temporize" for the moment would be the better part of valour. And from your note I see that, it seems, even monolithic Temporality (paper version anyway -- ?) must be set aside in the face of the elements...

An image described thoroughly in only one sentence, mood and all. A short masterpiece.

"a bar of soap grey with use" and yet, it will continue to hypnotize us till the end of time.

Tom,

Yes ("set aside in the face of the elements") to another table in the room, at least for now. . . .

Lucy, Steve, Don, gracias.

Stuck indoors due to rain and pain but nipped out last night for a brief late peek at the Wolf Moon and saw that the top half has now been sheared off...
