Wallace Stevens: Nomad Exquisite

As the immense dew of Florida
Brings forth
The big-finned palm
And green vine angering for life,

As the immense dew of Florida
Brings forth hymn and hymn
From the beholder,
Beholding all these green sides
And gold sides of green sides,

And blessed mornings,
Meet for the eye of the young alligator,
And lightning colors
So, in me, come flinging
Forms, flames, and the flakes of flames.

Wallace Stevens (1879-1955): Nomad Exquisite, 15 January 1919, from Harmonium (1923)

hey Tom, I stumbled on this blog many months ago and I just loved the images - the landscapes and the people both modern and historical. I'm not from Florida but I've visited several times and this made it more real. I was looking for inspiration for images for a song based on Nomad Exquisite. I kinda forgot about this blog until today but I think it seeped into my subconscious as I worked on the song and the video.

Thanks for putting this out there. It's a really beautiful collection.

If you are interested in seeing my interpretation, you can find it on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MfIAn1NCwz0
