THE GREENORE TRAIN RIDES AGAIN!
The re-construction of the last journey of the old Greenore train as a fund-raising event for the "People In Need Telethon" is sure to bring a nostalgic tear to many an eye, as the train makes its journey from Greenore to Dundalk to-morrow.
The train, which has been built around a car, under the watchful eye of Declan Tinnelly, will be pushed by a crew of 40 staff and regulars of the Greenore Railway Saloon, Quay Street.

The train, which has been built around a car, under the watchful eye of Declan Tinnelly, will be pushed by a crew of 40 staff and regulars of the Greenore Railway Saloon, Quay Street.
It won't be able to follow the exact route the last train took in 1951, as the railway line has since become overgrown or incorporated into surrounding fields. Instead the train will travel along the main road, with the crew collecting money for "People In Need" along the way... The train, which is a replica of the last engine to make the journey from Greenore to Dundalk, is 30ft long and 12 ft high.
