When the ancient fossilized organ resources cry out from the desert eroded past recovery or repair
and yet according to Mad Dog there are recent successes in the Eastern Euphrates Valley
and the sun going down to the West into the large water makes Arizona feel so near and yet so far
understood partially in an eclipsed way not yet fully

The tired gray citizen hanging on the Circle balustrade with his red metal cart heavily laden with religious and
eschatological literature admitted upon questioning tomorrow is his 61 birthday. He was sweating. "I took

The wheels were broken. The literature looked heavy. A towel was draped over it, a water bottle sticking out.
They were wobbling badly. Hot day I said with I thought sympathy, glancing toward the thick black jacket
he had tied around his waist, above black flannel pants, beneath white shirt. A salesman of literature then.
He explained he always has it tied back there like that. "Places I go to eat, I like to have this under me when I sit."
He said he was going to wait for the 7. The 7 doesn't stop here, I said. The 7 is dead, it will never come again,
I said. No, he said, the stop's right down there. We peered together through interstices in the glancing traffic melee
of postrevolutionary Marin Avenue, toward Colusa. Oh right, by the firehouse, I said. I began hobbling down the Ave.
