need

Where we live, growing up means growing out of an imaginal need
to have pig and hamburger. This is a culturally induced need not a real need.
We will not die of not having pig and hamburger. We might die of having pig and
hamburger but if we do we won't really mind because pig and hamburger is our culture.

Unless it isn't, unless it isn't, unless it isn't. We love everything
that is familiar, unless we don't, unless we don't. That which is most familiar
is that which we love the most, unless we don't. We love us some us
even as we don't love us some you. You are not familiar to us.

Unless you are. We don't love everything you are that is not
familiar to us. We are somewhat limited in this respect. We are
far from every need that is not culturally induced by us. This limits us
but it's not a problem because we have pig and hamburger, have pig and hamburger.

We are fond of everything that is us. We have no critical sense
in respect to us and/or who we are. We find ourselves adorable.
We think we're funny. We think we're cute. We think we're smart.
We think we need pig and hamburger. We have pig and hamburger. This makes

you want you some us but there is not enough us to go around
so you're going to have to settle for this pig and this hamburger. And when you're done
with this pig and this hamburger we also have this other pig and this other hamburger to offer,
it's a two-in-one electronic self-having pig-hamburger that whisks you to the airport

on electric skates in a kind of super awesome but also scary Elon-Gated shuttle service of the future,
where we live. Unless we don't, that is, unless we don't live in a future
at all, only in a past of invented desires and needs
and brutal slaughtering of every other animal that dares to live

in our world and looks halfway edible. We might die of having this world, unless we don't.

Oh, fuck you, Sarah Sanders and Jeff Sessions, for bringing your bullshit version of Christianity into this. How is it "biblical" to tear breastfeeding babies from their mothers? This administration is full of morally bankrupt ghouls. #ThursdayThoughts: image via Holly Figueroa O''Reilly BWCS @AynRandPaulRyan, 12:44 PM - 14 June 2018

Rev. Cornell Wm. Brooks, Esq. added,
#SarahSanders on an immigration policy allowing babies to be snatched from the breasts of migrant moms: “I can say that it is very biblical to enforce the law. That is actually repeated ... throughout the Bible,” Ma’am, that’s the #ICE rulebook, that ain’t the Bible

"How do you square your Christianity with the realization that you are the most visible and vocal surrogate for a man who is by nearly every measurement—fully devoid of Christlikeness?" #ThursdayThoughts #SarahSanders: tweet via John Pavlovitz @johnpavlovitz, 14 June 2018

“As a professed Christian woman, how do you make peace with the reality that you regularly mount the largest bully pulpit in the nation—and you lie for a living on behalf of a serial predator” #SarahSanders: tweet via John Pavlovitz @johnpavlovitz, 14 June 2018

There used to be a law that didn't allow you to vote. Another law said you could own slaves. Were those also Biblical? Laws are created by man. If they're wrong they must change. Don't blame God for ripping families apart. That's all Trump. #SarahSanders: image via CK @charley_ck14, 14 June 2018

"Need"---that's a powerful & stunning poem, as is the whole post.

Thanks Terry. You know how it is any more. You don't want to feel caught up in the history you're somehow at whatever distance living through... because you almost aren't... and then you do.

By the way, not to be argumentative, but just straight across, my heavens, has no one yet told that scary Huckleberry Goon Witch we are meant to have this little asterisk thingy called separation of church and state? A picky detail perhaps not that commonly noted within the august and hallowed hermeneutic confines of Ouachita Baptist, where short sentences are said to be so wonderfully understood, but still, jes sayin, y'all.

It's all jes so dayum bibble-ical, here in our good gray bleeding golden rush hour, in these End Days, when now that Lil Kim has been securely offloaded to happy cryogenic storage in Vegas the only thing we have to fear is as FDR radiosplained in so many words to all our listening families including dogs back in the day, the second term of Vonky.
