Wooden Boy: All the heat gone

Frayed tarmac in 4pm February sun
furtive moss clusters be gone

neon tube hiss
              shrugged off antennae

Now all the oddbod crocus fingers creak
a yellow stepladder floats from his big arm

So bird lime at the edges of the wired glass

            history cakes
   and blisters and
                       half hid

        stains on the waterbed too

No magic vestiges
even in felt tip flowers and leaves

Quiet is an hour or so hung up for afters
before hometime hands say

Wooden Boy: All the heat gone, from The Little Wooden Boy, 2 April 2018

As we said last year, the @WhiteHouse Easter egg event is one of the rare chances to observe the Trumps socially. This year was chillier--and it wasn't just the weather. Case in point, #Melania in the colonnade before she saw the cameras. ...Or, maybe she had. @somogettynews: image via Reading The Pictures @ReadingThePix, 2 April 2018

Um...had saw?? Aww c'mon ... where DID Jesus go??  Not into the Easter Egg surely!! It's gonna be SOO crowded in there!!

Few are the things to love anymore esp when you're an expiring grouch and yet... there is the poetry of Wooden Boy, the photography of Md. Enamul Kabir... making us so happy to have been here, when we take a step back... meanwhile trying not to step into the next same atmospheric river twice (leaky shoes, metal cane won't float, don't we hate metal, so inferior to wood)...

So inferior indeed.

Thanks, Tom. Looking at the pictures of Cambridgeshire, I'm remind we both know that territory a little. All the fens round Wisbech; an odd old place.

Nina Simone is Coatlicue: goddess of life, birth, death, the whole shebang. There's not a bloody soul to fill the space she left.

Thanks kent and WB,

And once again I say I do love such things as

Now all the oddbod crocus fingers creak
a yellow stepladder floats from his big arm

So bird lime at the edges of the wired glass

in which I hear a manual of poetic instruction subtly writ... and in every passage and part of this poet's work I hear his distinct sound, forever interesting to me, and very much his own, so that I could never mistake his lines for those of anyone else.

We remember that no wood was not at some living, and of how many things around us can we say this.

Andy Feltham's transcendent surrealist Longleat phone kiosk knocks me out, and was the top picture here until it in turn was knocked out, willy nilly and topsy turvy, by the unbelievably wonderful Pierre Wayser archival Hong Kong boat shot, which contains all the mystery and beauty and darkness we could ever demand out of those we love.
