Morning Storm
: photo by Tom Raworth, 2009

Apocalyptic thinking presumes
All this has never happened before

And will never happen again. I know,
Before the morning's eyes have opened,

The apocalyptic view of the world
Supposes things do not repeat themselves.

But they do. And they do. And they do.
The sky clouds up. A new storm comes on.

Whatever is going to happen next
Moves forward to complicate the view,

So that it is impossible to miss
All this will never happen again, too.
